New Manager for Pohnpei Branch Social Security

The FSM Social Security Administration has appointed a new manager for the Pohnpei Social Security Branch Office, Dadao Eliam. Eliam has been with Social Security since 1973 and previously held the position of Claim Officer at FSMSSA Headquarters. The position of manager is not new to Eliam who had initially served as Pohnpei Branch Manager from 1973 to 1987. According to Eliam, he enjoys being a manager because he gets to work with local people and has the opportunity to be "closer to their problems."

As the newly assigned manager, Elaim hopes to accomplish several goals such as spreading awareness to the public through the radio. Already, Eliam has held seminars with teachers at Kolonia Elementary School in keeping with his goal to be able to reach every work level in the FSM. Other priorities, said Eliam, would be stronger Branch communication with the State Legislature.

Currently, however, Eliam is worried about the diminishing Prior Service funds. Beneficiaries of the Prior Service Benefit will not be receiving any checks in the month of March. To ensure that the fund lasts throughout the year, the benefits will be paid every other month and Eliam is worried about the reaction of the beneficiaries.
